Certified Teacher of Mad Dog Math
ALL ABOUT ME
I am a credentialed teacher who taught in public schools for eight years. I received my Cleared California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, Bachelor’s degree, and Master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton. My first teaching job was in the Whittier City School District teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade students. After three years in Whittier, I transferred to the Fountain Valley School District and taught 6th through 8th grade students for five years. I taught general education and special education students in the areas of math and language arts. Differentiating instruction based on students’ needs and finding ways for each student to become academically successfully in all areas was my specialty.
I have been fully trained on the Mad Dog Math curriculum by Founder Julie Kotoff and have had the privilege of working with Julie in the classroom. Seeing the benefits of Mad Dog Math first-hand in my students and with my own children have made me passionate about this program!
WHAT WE TEACH
The foundation for strong math literacy is math facts mastery. It is the gateway to fractions, which in turn, is the gateway to algebra. Students who master their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts are better able to tackle higher-level math problems as they get older. There are some tricks to learning the facts, but mostly it is by hard work and repetition that these facts are acquired. The Mad Dog Math system, which includes many helpful tricks, will be taught using my online videos, and reinforced with the online timed drills, Marcy Cook Tile worksheets, and the Mad Dog Math flashcards. If your child finds math frightening, laborious, discouraging, is in need of acquiring the facts, or in need of moving from accuracy to automaticity (fast, accurate, and with very little thought), then this is the class for him or her!

CHIHUAHUAS
1st grade: students will memorize all addition and subtraction fact families up to 18 (i.e., 9+9=18), as well as the +8, 9, and 10’s tricks, place value, math terms, adding and subtracting with and without borrowing and carrying, and more!
BEAGLES
2nd grade: students will memorize all addition and subtraction math fact families up to 18 (i.e., 9+9=18), as well as +8, 9, and 10’s tricks, place value, math terms, adding and subtracting with and without borrowing and carrying, column addition, introduce x/÷ and the x2, 5, and 10’s families, and more!
GOLDEN RETRIEVERS
3rd-6th grade: students will memorize all multiplication and division math facts up to the 12's fact family (i.e., 12x12=144), and will learn math terms, mental math, division with remainders, harder multiplication with carrying (2-4 digits x 2-digit multiplier), long division with checking, place value, and more!
MAD DOG MATH
Mad Dog Math is a supplement to any math curriculum used at home. The basic facts are a very small piece of the academic math pie, but a crucial piece for future success as children move to higher levels of math. We’ve taken the basic facts and broken them down into bite-sized pieces that any child can master.
My Mad Dog Math online course consists of 4 parts: teaching videos, timed drills, worksheets, and flashcards.
TEACHING VIDEOS
I have created specialized, interactive, and fun teaching videos for each grade-leveled group in Mad Dog Math. I provide easy-to-understand, step-by-step instructions for each group:

TIMED DRILLS
This course includes a subscription to the maddogmath.com timed drills where each child progresses through at his/her own pace. If they pass a drill, they move on to the next. If not, they take the same one again until they pass. There is always that drive to pass to the next drill so your child is very motivated to move forward and succeed. With this success comes confidence and with confidence comes more success.
WORKSHEETS
Each child will receive Marcy Cook Tile worksheets in order to practice their newly learned math facts! These worksheets are dynamic and colorful and help to cement those ever-important math facts into their minds.
MAD DOG MATH FLASHCARDS
The perfect aid to Mad Dog Math. You will want your children to have these for practice at home or on-the-go. They are child-sized and are self-correcting. The color coded bands distinguish each math family for easy identification. Two processes come in each box (e.g. addition and subtraction, or multiplication and division). Mad Dog Math flash cards have been developed especially for Mad Dog Math. There is nothing like them on the market.
